The #1 Fallacy of Parents Regarding College Admissions
Fallacy- an error in reasoning that renders an argument logically invalid.
There are many fallacies of parents regarding the College Admission & Application process. Your successful outcome may very well hinge on your understanding of these fallacies.
Here is the # 1 most common fallacy of parents and students regarding college admissions-
- College admissions is a de-selection process made easy by the students and permitted by the parents.
It is a de-selection process. You may not want to believe it, but it's true. College admission counselors look to reject the application within 5 minutes of opening it. Our job is to keep them from doing that. However, students make it very easy to reject. How?
- Students wait too long to begin the applications.
- Students tend to rush through the application.
- Most student's essays are poorly conceived, poorly written, and of little interest.
- Activities are left incomplete.
- Supplemental questions are rushed through.
Applications are being submitted incomplete and easy to detect in less than 5 minutes. Parents allow it by not exercising appropriate oversight.
